WHAT IS THE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT TRAINING PROGRAM (PMTP)?

The purpose of the Property Management Training Program (PMTP) is to help property owners improve the management of their properties. The PMTP encompasses:

  • Marketing
  • Preparing units for rental
  • Repair and maintenance of the property
  • Techniques on early detection of drug and gang activity on the property
  • Use of rental agreements and leases to enforce house rules for proper management

WHO MUST COMPLETE THE PMTP?

Any property owner of an apartment house who has been issued an “Order to Repair” and is 45 or more days delinquent in correcting the cited violations listed on the Order to Repair, must complete the PMTP.

What is an “Order to Repair?” 

Any order or notice to comply, correct or abate or any substandard order issued by the Department of Building and Safety, the Housing Department, or the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, or any notice of fire and life safety violation issued by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

COST, SCHEDULE, and LOCATION

The Housing Department has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles (AAGLA) and the Apartment Association of California of Southern Cities (APT-ASSOC)  for the purpose of conducting PMTP training.  For additional information about PMTP, visit the AAGLA website or APT-ASSOC website.
